My Mommy is Coming!

I am so excited! Did February seem to go by fast for anyone else?

My mom is coming to stay with us for 10 days starting tomorrow night.
She works, but my dad's pay takes care of all the bills, so she decided to save it for a good cause: Seeing her granddaughter :-)

My mom and Layla last August

We don't have any huge plans for the time she is here. We're kinda broke, so most of our ideas are things that are either cheap or free. We would like to do a little hiking and stuff outside if the weather holds out. Some other ideas I had were to get henna done, eat Ethiopian food, and go to the Zoo. She'll also be accompanying us to tutoring day to help with the ESL students' kids.

My long term plan is to get my mom to totally fall in love with it here and get her and my dad out of the Midwest as soon as he retires. I think he has at least 5 more years though :-(

Any other suggestions of fun things to do with my mom and Layla?

Hurray! I love visiting my parents and having them visit me. :) I hope you have a great time.

Sorry, no suggestions come to mind. I'm so bad at coming up with interesting things to do.

You could do things for Purim. Hamentaschen Baking! it's not too late, or go to the Japanese Gardens(there is a trail that starts there and ends up near NW Portland aka Forest park).

Very cool, that photo is really amazing, too.

If you had TV it could have helped. TV provides so much yet asks so little in return.

The local zoo? I know, that might sound a bit corny but trust me, it beats my other suggestion; the local TV museum! haha

Cheers!

Hi !!!!
I was reading another girls blog
(mama i married a masri)
and I came across your post.....
(lol i read her previous posts)
I dont know what to say i dont know if I should be shocked or happy you speak somali
(take no offense :D) I think I am 100 % both shocked and happy but okay maybe more shocked.
I am Somali! Do you speak it fluently?! How did you learn it?! I know its 3eeb of me to just write it randomly, but i couldn't find an e-mail to reach you from, and my excitment got the better of me.

But you know what I will do, I will check out your blog, recent and old and try to get an understanding of ya, cause i just jumped to the nearest comment box.

p.s haha i would find it funny if you spoke somali better than I did
